Karl VanDehey


Prior to law school, Mr. VanDeHey engaged in a wide variety of vocational endeavors including teaching mathematics at the high school level and tutoring at-risk children in preparation for taking the GED. While in law school, Mr. VanDeHey served as co-director of the Legal Information Center at UW-Madison. Following his graduation from law school in 2000, Mr. VanDeHey worked as a law clerk for the First Judicial District in Milwaukee, which afforded him considerable experience in judicial review of administrative decisions. He also tutored potential law students in preparation for taking the LSAT.

Mr. VanDeHey joined the Firm in 2002 and is currently a shareholder practicing exclusively in the area of worker’s compensation defense on behalf of insurance companies, third-party administrators and self-insured employers. He also defends employers against uninsured penalty claims. Mr. VanDeHey has considerable experience in all types of worker’s compensation claims.

Mr. VanDeHey has given dozens of talks and presentations to insurance carriers, third-party administrators and industry groups on a broad range of topics related to worker’s compensation law. These include general introductory issues for beginning adjusters as well as more advanced topics such as jurisdictional issues, apportionment of liability, wage and benefit calculations, penalty claims and defense strategies, settlement valuation, settlement theory and practice, hearing dynamics, Medicare issues and many others.
